New analysis for the EQ in the West Sea was made from gravity and topographic data

Kim et al. (2020) was published in Geosciences Journal to take account for the crustal structures of the West Sea (or Yellow Sea) and the relationship to the occurrence of earthquakes during the last several decades. It is not easy to see the bottom of the sea or subsurface without the decent geophysical explorations like seismic or sonar instrumentations. Gravity data are conveniently accquisited and their usage is a great ingridient to look into the crust or below. In particular, isostatic adjustment of the crust is a long-term variation but important to consider local geodynamics related to the tectonic movements. We found the relationship between the occurence of the earthquakes and isostatic movements in this publication. BACK
